GROWING UP ON THE INTERNET

The internet landscape is always changing. What performs the best is what grabs attention. But once you have that attention, what are you going to do with it?
— PARKER DAY

In this episode of Capturing The Internet, we catch up with Rebecca Black. At age 13, following the release of her viral song "Friday," she dealt with a worst-case scenario of internet trolling, cyberbullying, and meme-ification. Now at 25, on the verge of becoming a full-fledged pop star, Rebecca talks with us about what kept her motivated to continue making music, her creative process, the importance of not taking yourself too seriously, and her acceptance that the internet can be a harsh but sometimes beautiful place.

Joining Rebecca is surrealist portrait photographer Parker Day, best known for her color-saturated photography style & wild costumery. Together they set out to capture a side of Rebecca that the internet has never seen before.
